Along with certification in the specific academic areas for the grades they teach, teachers and other staff members have acquired accreditation in CPR/First Aid, CT State Department of Public Health.

Highlights of CURET’s Summer Academic Tutoring & Enrichment Program

CURET’s summer program blends tutoring, enrichment, recreational components, hands-on learning in/outside classroom, strengthening skills in:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Math
  • Science
  • Critical Thinking
  • Problem Solving
  • Computer/IT Literacy

Teachers reinforce academic skills; move students forward ensuring mastery of essential skills in Language Arts and math; remediation prepares students for the new school year.

Results include:   

  • Reducing summer learning loss
  • Providing students with reliable tools to be on the fast track
  • Getting ready for the new school year
  • Strengthening character
  • Enjoying fun and creative activities: arts, crafts, cultural dance and music
  • Going on field trips on Fridays

CURET infuses cultural components—visual and performing arts for recreation, unleashing students’ creativity and self-efficacy. To enhance the quality of the program and based on data gathered, teachers enlist the supports of teachers’ assistants (TAs) serving as role models for younger students; TAs also develop love for teaching and over the years eventually become teachers themselves. CURET’s Summer Program continues to impact students, teachers, TAs, and families.

Updates include incorporating Character Building and Values are built in our summer curricula, engaging students. The CURET program includes robust academic activities, work-and-fun. Students on verge to repeat grades usually improve, and are promoted to the next grade when the new school year commences.

CURET’s teachers are invested in improving students’ achievement. The summer program ends with an Award Ceremony and includes students’ performances; parents/guardians/families are invited to participate in their children’s summer experiences and accomplishments. CURET’s three-fold academic tutoring-enrichment-recreational activities give a lift to students’ success, encouraging love for learning and Character Building. CURET’s academic and enrichment model of work-and-play entail morning academics—literacy, numeracy, science; afternoon: arts/crafts; music, dance/drama, computer/technology; Fridays: field trips to educational centers—fun places encouraging curiosity.
